The lion and his three counselors
One day, the king of the jungle, the lion, had a meal rich in garlic.
The lion called the sheep to him to ask her if his breath smelled. The sheep said yes. So, the lion bit off sheep’s head. « What a fool this sheep is ! » said the lion to himself.
The lion then called the wolf and asked him the same question. The wolf said no. So, the lion tore the wolf to pieces.« What a flatterer this wolf is ! » said the lion to himself.
Finally, the lion called the fox and asked him the same question. The fox apologized several times. However , he finally said, « My dear king, I have a bad cold, and I cannot smell ».The lion said, «I see ».

Time to communicate Read, learn and practice the dialogue : Sandra : Good afternoon ,everybody. The committee is meeting today to discuss the problem of garbage in the playground. As you can see , a lot of kids are throwing trash in the playground during recess, and we have been asked by the teachers to help them find a solution. Mike : I will be taking notes. So, please don’t rush me ; take turns speaking, and allow me time to write down what you say. Fred : All right. I will start if that’s OK. I think it would be a good idea if we put signs in the playground that say something like « DO NOT LITTER » or « KEEP PLAYGROUND CLEAN ». Jean : I’m not sure this would be enough. Kids are going to have trash to throw away , things like sandwich wrappers, bags of chips, and such. I think the problem is that there aren’t enough trash cans around the playground. Karie : I agree. Kids have to go halfway across the playground to find a trash can. And who wants to do that when he or she is busy playing ? Fred : You’ve got a point there. So , maybe we could add trash bins and have a poster next to each bin that tells not to litter. Karie : that is a good idea ! I also think that something should be done to discourage those kids
who will still litter , like making them clean up the whole playground after school. Sandra : We will have to let the teachers handle that part. But it’s a good idea. Mike , are you taking all this down ? Mike : Just a minute…. there ! Now , I have an idea. We could probably organize some kind of an activity or a fair to make kids aware of how much trash gets thrown away and why it is bad for the environment as a whole. Sandra : That’s a great idea , too ! This way kids will feel reponsible not to litter. Okay, does anybody have anything else to add ? All : No. Sandra : Very well then.
